It appears that Gannet Co., only the biggest newspaper publisher in the U.S. has decided to partner up with Yahoo for a deal. The deal will focus on helping Yahoo sell online ads in local markets by using not only all Gannet Co. newspapers but also 7 of its 23 TV stations. Now my first reaction when I saw this was panic. I thought “oh shit, here we go the big companies are moving in on my local turf”.

I shot a tweet out to Shoemoney to get his opinion on if those of us trying to make it in local affiliate marketing should care about Gannett partnering with Yahoo. His response was short and simple but it made a great point.

That’s what I like about Shoemoney. It seems no matter what adversity is thrown at the guy he finds out the angles to keep going and improving. I was thinking of all the bad stuff that might happen with this move and within minutes Shoemoney replied back with a positive outlook on the issue that I didn’t even think of.

In fact, a few years ago, Shoemoney woke up to an email subject from the RIAA saying his site was going to be taken offline within 48 hours….

Well, to make a long story short, he ended up turning that $100-a-day site into over $250,000 with just a few small tweaks…

MichianaConnect.com is up, but it may be larger than what I really need right now for the local marketing. I think I am going to scale it down a little and have it focus on one city to start with. This means that I will need to probably go ahead and change the name. Oh well I guess, back to the drawing board.

I have began work on a new site to help dig a little deeper in the local affiliate marketing idea. The site has a few purposes.

The first purpose is to help create pages that will rank organically for different professions in the targeted local areas. For example, I want to have a high ranking for my page that features dentist in Porter County, In. I want this page to rank high no matter which dentist is featured. This way if I have to work with a new dentist all the hard work I have done making my page rank will continue for the new dentist thus hopefully increasing leads.

The second purpose is to provide a website that is geared to my local area that will give professionals a place to advertise their wares. The website will be broken down by counties in my local area. Each county will have a directory of professionals that I will use for my affiliate marketing.

The third purpose is to have a real website behind all of my local affiliate marketing. I am hoping that by having my local affiliate marketing pages linked to a site that is real and updated consistently will help with search results. I am also planning on using the site to help reach clients for my local affiliate marketing.

So with all of that MichianaConnect.com has been launched. The site will focus on the 15 counties of the Greater Michiana Area with Porter County, In. being the first.

I have been reading about local affiliate marketing and I really love the idea behind it. I think I might play around a little with the idea and see what I can make of it. In the Shoemoney System the next couple videos are about local affiliate marketing, so I will definitely check those out.

I am still working with AzoogleAds and Clickbank and would like to do more with what they have to offer. I have been using mostly facebook and admob with these two sites to make my offers to people, but I need to step it up if I want to make continuous money and not just have a hit here or there. I am thinking I need to almost make a site that is like a store with the offers.

Some improvements still need to be made like cloaking my links and also having software to take care of links. I also need to check into software for building and maintaining a membership site. I should also look into outsourcing some of the more technical aspects of the projects I am working on.

Need to work on making my own products too!

Haven’t posted in a month or so but that’s ok because nobody reads the blog yet anyway!

I have been working on the other things like facebook ads and mobile ads. So far I am not seeing the numbers I want to see but hopefully that will change soon. I am getting plenty of hits on my ads but I am a little concerned with the landing pages I am sending them too.

Guess I will work on the landing pages and gear them more toward my style and try to build a mailing list in hopes of sending offers in the future.

The item that is listed next for me to complete is creating Pillar Articles. For me to complete this task I need to create post on this blog that I feel gives other people something they can use. I hope this post of taking positive action becomes one of those post….

I dream about having a lifestyle that allows me to spend quality time with my family while allowing me to work on things I deem exciting. Unfortunately all the dreaming in the world is not going to make it become a reality. For my dreams to come true I need to take action. Not any action will do, I need to take positive action.

By positive action I mean doing the actions it takes to reach my goal. In an earlier post I described how I was going to reach $50,000 a year with this site. In this article I used a process of listing the things I need to do to make that goal become a reality. The next step for me was to complete Pillar Articles for my site, yet I have not completed this action.

Now don’t get me wrong I have been working on the site and working on making money but these actions have not gotten me one step closer to my goal. The real next positive action I needed to take was to create these Pillar Articles, yet these are the actions I took instead:

Signed up for The Shoemoney System and proceeded to read and watch the videos available.

Re-read John Chows post about ClickBank then stated looking into how I could use this info to my advantage.

Started researching how to get a new logo for the PaulG2.com blog.

All of these actions will help me sooner or later but the one action that would make a positive impact on my site right now was not completed. I have not been procrastinating when it came to not writing the Pillar Articles, but I have been taking actions that have not been moving me in a positive direction toward my goal.

So how do you make sure you are taking positive action?  The first thing you must realize is that

Procrastination does not exist- you are always acting

Once you understand the concept of your always acting you then need to determine if you are taking positive action as opposed to actions that take you away from your goal. To determine what type of action you are taking always ask yourself these two questions:

1. Are the actions I am taking right now in this

moment bringing me closer to or further away

from my desired targets?

2. Are the actions I am taking right now in this

moment increasing or decreasing my power (time, energy, money)?

If you can answer question #1 with a yes while answering question #2  with increasing then you know you are taking positive action. If the action you want to take does not match up with those answers then you know you are not taking positive actions towards your goals but are just taking action.

So get with the program and if you want to make sure you are achieving the goals you set for yourself make sure you are taking positive action. Ask yourself those two questions when deciding on your next task to complete. Stop whining and blaming others and start taking positive action today to reach your goals.

So yesterday I signed up for the Shoemoney System. While I go through the program I will update the blog here to let everyone know how its going.

The program is broken down into 1 or 2 videos a week. Since I have just started the system I only have two videos available to me which are “Books that will change your life” and “Ways to make money online”.  I admit that I am a little disappointed that these are the only two videos available at this time since the “Ways to make money online” video was used in the presale of the system and I have already watched it.

However that is the only thing I am disappointed about so far! In the getting started section there are fundamental topics and creating accounts. If you are new to the whole making money online game then these two topics cover the definitions of terms like crowd sourcing, CPC vs CPM advertising and also show you how to sign up for accounts at YouTube, Google optimizer, and SponsoredTweets.

I also enjoy the Webinars that are on the site. Since I got into the system later than most people there are already some webinars posted and available for me to watch. The system also has a resources section that has tons of helpful links and niche ideas to help you get going. I found the resource sections helpful links to be an awesome tool when looking for things like affiliate and CPA networks. There are so many links here that I didn’t even know that some of them even existed.

I almost forgot to mention the Shoemoney Podcasts and the affiliate center. I haven’t even began to listen to all the podcasts so that will have to be an update in of itself since there are over 60 of them! Some of the podcasts I’m going to hit up first are the Affiliate Marketing Ideas and Landing Page Building.

Sorry for the delay in posting but life seems to get in the way some times. As far as making money I have been reading tons of info on various methods of doing just that. The problem with taking a month to just read about how to make money means your not really doing the things that make you money. That lack of direction seems to be my problem in recent years. So to combat this I have decided to steal a method Mark Joyner speaks about in the first video of the Secret Classroom. That method is to start from what you want to achieve and work your way backwards.
So my goal is to make $50,000 a year from my online ventures. How am I going to do this?  Working backwards from my goal of $50,000 a year my path  looks something like this.

The idea (discuss my journey of making money online), domain name (paulg2.com),  web hosting, and blog setup are all complete. This means my next step is to create Pillar Articles for the blog. For those of you not familiar with pillar articles check out what I’m talking about right here.
So my agenda is set for the upcoming week, create pillar articles for PaulG2.com. By following this seemingly simple method I plan to reach my goal of $50,000.
