I’m starting to notice that my 3 main blogs are starting to blend together and each blog is losing its content focus. Since the content I write is mainly focused on online marketing, I feel that what I post on one blog can easily fit in on the other two. The problem is that shouldn’t be the case. Each blog has its own purpose, yet when it comes to blog content they all seem to run together.
After I noticed this issue I decided to ask myself the basic questions below to help get at each blogs ideal content:
What is the purpose of the blog?
What can the blog offer readers?
How often should updates occur?
Even though these are very basic questions the exercise did help me determine what I was doing wrong, but more importantly, what I needed to do to refocus my blog content.
In case you’re interested here are the brief answers I came up with for my blogs:
PaulG2.com— This blog is supposed to be a behind the scenes look at what I am doing to make money online. This means that the posts should be geared more toward how-to’s of the stuff I am doing to my other blogs. It’s important to not cross the line into the other blogs territories by explaining things like why my products and services are awesome. The posts about the products and services should be about how I am using the other blogs to highlight these items. This blog should also focus more on how it can help its readers do what I am doing and not just the story of what I have done and why. Give the reader content that they can use.
Business Marketing Consulting HQ— This is a niche site that needs to stay focused on it’s niche and keywords to gain traffic and reach the first page of Google. The content on this blog needs to be quality and help the readers. It is also a place where we will be able to promote services that coincide with the blogs purpose of business marketing consulting. This blog will need to have a consistent schedule of keyword driven post to make it SEO friendly. A Monday-Wednesday-Friday approach would be the best. Monday should be a post from me, Wednesday should be a Twitter Tips post with keywords, and Friday should be my Guest Post’s/ Expert Interviews/Podcasts/ BMC Featured product or service reviews. This will keep the site updated regularly with keyword, helpful posts that should improve our page rank.
Covale Media LLC.—- Since this is my company page it should be geared toward explaining who we are and selling my products and services. When posts are written, which should be at least once a week, it should be highlighting those different products and services.
That is the plan I am going to go with to keep my blog content organized between my 3 main blogs. What ways do you keep your blog content organized?
