2012–time flies doesn’t it?

I think this year I am going to go a different route as far as new years resolutions go. One of the people I follow in the marketing and business niches (Chris Brogan) has a great little thing about picking 3 words for the year that, as he says ,will help you define your goals and experiences for the coming year. You can read more about this @ http://www.chrisbrogan.com/3words2012/

So with that in mind here are my three words for 2012:

Finish– Plenty of projects started in 2011, but not many finished. I will use this word to remind be to see things through to the end in the new year. Owning your own company brings about many opportunities and directions you can go in, but it also means that you have to be disciplined enough to finish whatever direction you choose to go. By remembering the word Finish, no matter what direction I choose I will know that I need to see it through to the end.

Network– Get and stay in touch with people that have genuine like minded goals, interest, and can help further personal and professional goals. Build genuine friendships, partnerships, and have the ability to help others to reach their goals. Make sure to connect with friends that I haven’t talked to as much as I should be.

Structure– Free time, no idea what that is! At least I shouldn’t have any idea with my company, my job, my classes, and general life. Yet I can easily waste a day or two a week without accomplishing anything. I know that I should take time to relax and enjoy what I have in life, but there needs to b a time and place for everything so I can reach other goals I have. I need to structure my time, my business, my homework, and everything else to make sure I am working toward accomplishing my goals for the year. I will need this Structure to help me with my other two words, Finish and Network.

So now that I have my three words I can use them to come up with the day-to-day things I need to do to make them happen. 3 little words but huge possibilities. If you were to use this 3 word methods, what would your 3 words be?

I’m starting to notice that my 3 main blogs are starting to blend together and each blog is losing its content focus. Since the content I write is mainly focused on online marketing, I feel that what I post on one blog can easily fit in on the other two. The problem is that shouldn’t be the case. Each blog has its own purpose, yet when it comes to blog content they all seem to run together.

After I noticed this issue I decided to ask myself the basic questions below to help get at each blogs ideal content:

What is the purpose of the blog?

What can the blog offer readers?

How often should updates occur?

Even though these are very basic questions the exercise did help me determine what I was doing wrong, but more importantly, what I needed to do to refocus my blog content.

In case you’re interested here are the brief answers I came up with for my blogs:

PaulG2.com— This blog is supposed to be a behind the scenes look at what I am doing to make money online. This means that the posts should be geared more toward how-to’s of the stuff I am doing to my other blogs. It’s important to not cross the line into the other blogs territories by explaining things like why my products and services are awesome. The posts about the products and services should be about how I am using the other blogs to highlight these items. This blog should also focus more on how it can help its readers do what I am doing and not just the story of what I have done and why. Give the reader content that they can use.

Business Marketing Consulting HQ— This is a niche site that needs to stay focused on it’s niche and keywords to gain traffic and reach the first page of Google. The content on this blog needs to be quality and help the readers. It is also a place where we will be able to promote services that coincide with the blogs purpose of business marketing consulting. This blog will need to have a consistent schedule of keyword driven post to make it SEO friendly. A Monday-Wednesday-Friday approach would be the best. Monday should be a post from me, Wednesday should be a Twitter Tips post with keywords, and Friday should be my Guest Post’s/ Expert Interviews/Podcasts/ BMC Featured product or service reviews. This will keep the site updated regularly with keyword, helpful posts that should improve our page rank.

Covale Media LLC.—- Since this is my company page it should be geared toward explaining who we are and selling my products and services. When posts are written, which should be at least once a week, it should be highlighting those different products and services.

That is the plan I am going to go with to keep my blog content organized between my 3 main blogs. What ways do you keep your blog content organized?

There will be other items that are included in the membership that I can not divulge at this point, but it looks like we will be able to help lots of people by delivering real value to our customers. No ETA on the membership because all the content and site set-up are all being created as we speak. Keep checking back for more information.

On a side note we just purchased our first mac to allow us to start developing our apps. Our first app is in the wireframe stage and will shortly be getting its awesome graphics and code created.

So that’s whats been going on with us here. What have you been up to?

One of the buttons teases a new product coming soon. The DIY Marketing will be an off shoot of our BMC website. I really can’t go into the details just yet with the reason being is we’re not done with the testing of the system. If everything works as planned I believe the system will be a great help to those that use it.

So the groundwork is almost finished and soon we will go live with marketing our products and services. I can’t wait to see what happens. We will definitely keep you posted here at the blog.

As it stands right now I do have the posts as the home page, but that may change.

We have also been looking at our business marketing consulting site and trying to come up with some new ideas. I feel that the site has tons of potential but as of now the site offers nothing of value to anyone that happens to read it.

We will be working on the site and will have a post documenting some of the changes we will implement to not only improve the look of the site but the content and value as well. The post will be included in our niche site duel page, so if your following along it will be easy to find.

With both sites many of the updates will focus on content and ease of use for our readers. Keywords will play an important part, but the main focus will be delivering relevant content to our readers. We may also look into having other authors on the site to have more voices concerning business marketing consulting ideas and solutions.

That’s all for now.

I’m very excited today and the reason is Local Search Marketing. I feel that now is the time for local businesses to really focus on their local customers and local search marketing can help local businesses do just that.

In the local business market half of the battle is just letting people know that your business actually exists. Many businesses do not have the marketing budget needed to have a an all out media blitz. When businesses do have a budget they tend to spend it on the old methods of marketing like the phone book, t.v. and radio ads. Even though these methods may be able to drive new business to these local businesses the ROI usually doesn’t justify the cost of these methods.

With search engines like Google and Bing starting to focus and spend money on the local search market now is the time for local business owners to focus on local search marketing.

With that in mind my business, Covale Media LLC, will be unveiling a new service early next week. The Covale Local Marketing Package or LMP will be available to local business owners starting Monday, February 14th 2011!

This package is great service for local businesses that need to have a more prominent presence in their local market. More details as to what the LMP will include will be coming soon so don’t forget to check back soon.

Thought I would write a quick post about BMC HQ and just talk about a few things that have been going on. There are a couple of things that have gotten me pretty excited about the whole experience. One thing is that an actual author that knows marketing mentioned our review of his book on twitter. I can’t wait to see how that affects the traffic. The mention caught me a little off guard since I didn’t think anyone would see our review.

Another thing I am excited about is that I have added a new widget area for the BMC HQ site that contains big buttons that direct people to our Tips, Tools and Secrets category pages. My reasoning for the buttons is that I am trying to make the site relevant in Google’s eyes when it comes to business marketing consulting. So I thought that if the site is to be a headquarters for business marketing than why not give three big tools(the buttons) to get businesses started right away in the topic they want to explore.

Another thing I am thinking of doing is actually investing a little cash in getting an actual logo and new look. I need to decide what I want the finished site to look like. I would like to keep the design simple, but have a more polished look. I think investing in some graphic design would help pull everything together.

Writing content for the blog has become a concern. I am thinking of doing a couple of things to get really strong content on the blog without taking all my time researching and writing post. I am looking at having other bloggers guest post and also looking for a virtual assistant with content creation. I would love to reach out to marketing professionals and interview them for my blogs visitors.

Monetization of the site is another concern. I have some products on the sidebar of the site, but I don’t want to keep them there. There has to be a better way that I can monetize the site that isn’t as intrusive. If I can get the site ranked on Google than maybe I can have companies sponsor parts of the site.

Everything together just lets me know that there is still a ton of work to get done! So with that I will end this post and get started tackling all that work.

I then took my “new” articles and began to submit them to article sites. So far I have only submitted to two sites. those sites were Amazines and EzineArticles. Amazines has already approved my article on business marketing consulting but EzineArticles has not. I plan on submitting to more article sites shortly.

New Blogs
I of course am linking to my new site covering business marketing consulting from my various blogs but I am also using free platforms to create new blogs to link to my new site. So far I have created a blog on WordPress.com, and Blogger that uses a copy of my article. I am also going to tie into those blogs a video form my YouTube account to make them look like they are actually updated and lived in a little.

Web2.0
I have also used my article to create a Squidoo Lens and a Hub Page that use my keywords to link back to my site. I have also created a FaceBook Fan Page and Twitter accounts for the site.

So I’m happy so far with the work put in, but I realize I have an opportunity to do more when it comes to the article marketing, new blogs, and web2.0 steps of backlinking. The plan is to wrap up those areas and then move into the second layer of linking to those sites, lens, and hubs that I created. I’m not sure if I will use the same methods as Pat seeing as the software he uses cost more than what I’m used to paying. I just might though because his results are hard to argue with and the time I would save would definitely benefit me in the long run.
I’m also looking for people to guest post for the new site. If anyone is interested in guest posting then just get in touch with me.
And with that Niche Site Duel Post 2 is done. I should have Niche Site Duel post 3 up in a couple of days so don’t forget to come back and check it out.

If you haven’t seen Pat Flynn’s Niche Site Duel you need to! There is a list of people trying to get niche sites up and running and they each have great tips for anyone to follow. Even though we’re a little late to the party I’m glad to be part of it.

Our site is BusinessMarketingConsultingHQ.com How and why we decided to go into this niche begins with a piece of software- Market Samurai

First let me say that this software is no joke. It breaks things down like relevant keywords, SEO traffic, the commercialization of keywords, and much more.

So with my new software I decided I would try to find a niche that relates to my business, but has some hope of becoming the number one site on Google for its niche. With that thought I went ahead and logged into Market Samurai and began my search.

I can’t go into the details and numbers of my niche(not yet anyway) although if you have a copy of Market Samurai and notice my new blog you probably could put two and two together and figure it out! I just started the blog yesterday and have followed my own advice in one of the post on the blog entitled Business Marketing Must Haves For Your Blog.

Once I have the basics and about three more posts I will then begin to use the method Pat Flynn used in his niche site duel to create back links in my quest to hit the Google number 1 spot in my niche. I will definitely keep everyone posted on what happens so don’t forget to come back.

As a friendly reminder you can also check us out on Facebook and Twitter.

P.S.
One more thing about Market Samurai Once you sign up for the free trial they began counting down time. The longer you wait to buy the higher the cost, and they don’t play!

Later,
